A brief presentation of us
Nordstadjugend a.s.b.l. focuses on youth work with and for youngsters between 11 and 30 years. We own two youth centers in Ettelbruck and Diekirch, a Youth Information Center as well as accommodation (“Jugendwunnen”) for 21 young, independent adults who can or no longer want to live at home. We are also responsible for the organization, coordination and implementation of regional projects and activities in our 12 partner municipalities. Furthermore, we focus on national and international youth projects.
Our staff currently consists of 15 educators, social workers and coordinators. We pursue the goals of supporting young people (prevention), promoting them (participation) and enabling them to find a suitable place in our society (integration). All our offers are based on low-threshold, integration-promoting leisure activities and meeting opportunities, which are aimed at young people in extracurricular/non-professional leisure and educational area.
Activities and experiences
We are responsible for regional and local youth work in the “Nordstad” youth communities. In addition to working in the two youth centers, Nordstadjugend a.s.b.l. can draw on many years of broad experience in the organization and management of projects on youth-related topics (prevention, teaching self-confidence, recognizing skills, career orientation, experiencing democratic processes, music, sport, culture, art and much more). The goal is always to support young people in their development, to encourage them and to (re-)integrate them into society.
Since 2015, we have been organizing and doing the yearly “Outdoor+” YE in cooperation with four other organizations/countries. This youth exchange focuses on building self-confidence and competences-awareness through outdoor activities. Our application for the coming edition in 2023 has already been approved. The "Culture Point" project has been organized and carried out for several years and in successful cooperation with our project partners. We also took part in several youth meetings.
Nordstadjugend has been a member of the "Network" platform for 12 years, which promotes cooperation between European countries and regions. The main focus of this platform is the organization of European youth exchanges and voluntary services with the aim of bringing young people closer to Europe, other young people and cultures. We are also constantly striving to develop non-formal projects in order to support young people in the best possible way on their way of growing up in our modern society with a countless variety of possibilities.
